Is Advantage Gold worth it? Yes, it is worth the fees for the buyer it is built for, a first-time gold IRA investor with $5,000 or more to move. Its fees come to $2,050 over ten years, which ranks third lowest among the 12 dealers in our fee database.

Every figure here is calculated from Advantage Gold’s fee schedule, checked on September 29, 2026, using the same arithmetic as our fee calculator. The total adds the $50 setup fee and ten years of $100 administration and $100 commingled storage, while the markup sits inside the price Advantage Gold quotes when you order, so ask for that figure in writing before the account funds.

Ten-year fees at any balance

Setup, administration and storage are flat charges, so the same schedule applies to a modest rollover and to a large one.

Line itemBasisTen years
Account setupOnce$50
Administration$100 a year$1,000
Storage, commingled$100 a year$1,000
Total, ten yearsthird lowest among 12 dealers$2,050

Because the fees do not change with the balance, a larger account spreads the same yearly bill across more metal.

How it ranks against other dealers

Advantage Gold’s fees come to less over ten years than those of nine of the other 11 dealers in our fee database. Two come in lower on list fees. Oxford Gold Group is $250 lower over ten years because its $175 yearly fee includes storage, and Goldco is $200 lower because its yearly administration fee is $80.

Both open at a higher entry point. Oxford Gold Group asks for $25,000 and Goldco for $25,000 to open an account, while Advantage Gold starts at $5,000, so a buyer with a smaller rollover gets close to the same fees on a schedule that is open to them. Our ten-year cost page sets Advantage Gold beside Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals line by line.

What the fees buy

The yearly $200, the setup fee and the markup inside the metal price pay for four things that a gold IRA needs, and you can see each of them in the account.

  1. A custodian. STRATA Trust Company or Equity Trust Company holds the IRA, keeps its records, files the IRS reporting and sends your statements.
  2. Insured storage. The metal sits at Brink's Global Services USA (Los Angeles or Salt Lake City) or Delaware Depository (Wilmington, DE), and Advantage Gold packs, insures and ships the coins and bars there for you.
  3. Education. The company offers a free gold ira beginner's guide, 10 chapters, short FAQ videos, a podcast of about 20 minutes an episode with transcripts, and a free one-on-one call.
  4. A buyback. When you are ready to sell, the company offers a buyback service on request, and its FAQ says “We’ll never turn away a customer.”

An account executive also takes you through the self-directed IRA application, which the company puts at about 30 minutes or less with an account executive, and handles the rollover on your behalf. Our buyback page walks through a sale from inside the account.

Why the cost holds up over time

A gold IRA is a long-term account, and the pattern of its costs favours a buyer who holds. The fees reach $2,050 at ten years, and the setup fee is paid at the start, so each later year adds only $200.

If you choose segregated storage, which keeps your coins and bars apart from other clients’ metal, the storage line rises from $100 to $175 a year. The fees page prices both options, and our full Advantage Gold review puts the schedule next to the ratings and the product list.

Who it fits, and who should look elsewhere

The fees are worth it if you want a first gold IRA, a $5,000 starting point, a full-service rollover, and a company with an A+ from the BBB and a 4.8 Trustpilot score across 1,920 reviews. Buyers who plan to hold for a decade or more get the most from a schedule made of flat fees.

It fits less well below a $5,000 balance, and it fits less well if you want live chat, since the company works by phone, email and contact form. Advantage Gold also does not publish its fee schedule online, and direct purchases outside an IRA carry shipping and insurance charges. If any of that rules it out, compare matched companies against your balance first.
