This site earns a commission when a reader opens a gold IRA with a dealer we link to, and that is the whole business model. This page sets out what the arrangement changes about what you read here, which is less than you might expect, and what the Federal Trade Commission requires us to tell you about it under 16 CFR 255.
How we earn
Some links to dealers carry a referral arrangement, and where a reader follows one and opens an account, the dealer pays us a fee. Nothing is charged to you, there is no subscription, and there is no paid tier of this site.
Where a page carries a paid link, the disclosure appears at the top of that page rather than only in the footer, which is why you see it in the bar on every page of this site.
What a commercial relationship changes
It changes which links carry a commission and nothing else. It does not change the assessment, the ordering of a comparison, the setup fee or storage fee we print, or whether a company's regulator record appears on its page, and a dealer with a referral arrangement is written up against the same 6 headings as one without.
No company has been shown a page about it before publication, and none has a right of reply that would delay or soften what we publish. If a company stops meeting the standard we route readers to, we remove it and say so on the page rather than quietly dropping the link.
What we refuse
- Paid placement, sponsored positions, or any arrangement where money moves an assessment.
- Customer testimonials and star ratings, because we have no customers and inventing them would breach 16 CFR 465 outright.
- Any arrangement that would delay or soften a regulator record, a complaint count, or a published markup over spot.
- Review schema markup on pages with no genuine review basis behind it.
- Selling your contact details to anyone, including to a dealer you did not ask to speak to.
Your details
If you complete a form here that routes you to a dealer, that dealer is named on screen before you submit, and your consent to be contacted covers that named company alone. The record of what you agreed to, and when, is stored with the submission so it can be produced later.
Several states run their own telephone-consent statutes that are stricter than the federal rule, so consent captured here is specific rather than blanket. You can withdraw it at any point by replying STOP to a message or using the unsubscribe link in any email. The privacy page covers what is stored and for how long.
The FTC position this is written to
The Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides at 16 CFR 255 require a material connection to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, and the Commission has said repeatedly that a link buried in a footer does not meet that standard. This page, and the bar carried at the top of every page on this site, are our disclosure for the purposes of that rule.
Nothing on this site is investment, tax, or legal advice, and we are not a dealer, a custodian, a broker, or a registered adviser.
