Your Advantage Gold account is open, and the next three steps are a funded account, a metal purchase and a shipment to an insured depository, all handled by the same account executive who took your application. The company says it funds the account in a few days after your statement goes in, so the wait is short.
This page follows the account from that first day to your first statement, using the process on Advantage Gold’s own pages, checked on September 29, 2026. The rollover process page covers the same route in more detail.
The three steps in order
Advantage Gold describes a rollover as three steps, and you do the first two while the company and your custodian do the rest.
| Step | What happens | Who does it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Open the IRA | You complete the custodial application with an account executive and e-sign it, which takes about 30 minutes or less with an account executive | You and your account executive |
| 2. Move the funds | You send a statement from your current plan, and the custodian contacts the old administrator and moves the money | Your custodian |
| 3. Buy the metal | Your account executive walks through eligible coins and bars, then Advantage Gold buys, packs, insures and ships them to the depository | Advantage Gold |
Funding timeline
Advantage Gold funds the account “in a few days” after you send the statement from your current plan, and the company runs the rollover for you on a full-service basis. Your account executive can tell you where the transfer stands at any point along the way.
Because the money goes from one custodian to the other, it never passes through your hands. That is why a direct transfer stays simple, with no check to deposit and no clock to watch.
The 60-day window for an indirect rollover
If a plan administrator makes a check out to you instead, the transfer is an indirect rollover, and you have 60 days from the day you receive the funds to deposit them into the new IRA. Advantage Gold states that window on its own site, and it applies only to an indirect rollover, so it does not apply to a direct transfer between custodians.
You can skip the window entirely by asking their old plan to send the funds straight to the new custodian. If your old plan does issue you a check, tell your account executive the day it arrives, and the two of you can plan the deposit well inside the 60 days.
Buying the metal and reaching the depository
Once the funds land, your account executive helps you choose coins and bars from the 39-item catalogue, and 33 of those items qualify for an IRA. Advantage Gold buys the metal at the price it quoted you, then packs, insures and ships it straight to the depository, so nothing is delivered to your home.
The depository is Brink's Global Services USA (Los Angeles or Salt Lake City) or Delaware Depository (Wilmington, DE). Your account executive is your contact for confirming the purchase, and the custodian and depository page explains how the two firms divide the work.
Statements and yearly fees
Your custodian, STRATA Trust Company or Equity Trust Company, keeps the account’s records, sends your statements and reports to the IRS each year. The yearly bill is $100 for administration and $100 for commingled storage, or $175 for segregated storage, and the setup fee of $50 is a one-time charge. Our fees page lists each line.
How to reach the team
Advantage Gold takes calls at (888) 501-9001 and email at info@advantagegold.com, and it also runs a contact form on its site. It has no live chat, and the company offers after-hours support on its guide page, so a question that comes up in the evening has a route. The phone number page lists what to ask on each call.
What to do in the first weeks
A short list keeps the first weeks simple:
- Send your plan statement the same day, because the transfer starts when the custodian has it.
- Ask your account executive to confirm the purchase once the metal is bought.
- Save your first custodian statement, which shows the account and its holdings.
Who it fits, and who should look elsewhere
This path suits a first-time buyer who wants one contact from application to shipment, and the full-service rollover means the paperwork with your old plan is handled for you. The full Advantage Gold review covers the rest of the record, and our rollover guide covers the steps that apply to every company.
It fits less well if you want live chat, since the company works by phone, email and form, and direct purchases outside an IRA carry shipping and insurance charges. If you have not opened an account yet, compare matched companies against your balance, or start at Advantage Gold's site.
Common questions
What happens after I open an Advantage Gold account?
You send a statement from your current plan, the custodian moves the funds, and your account executive walks you through choosing coins and bars. Advantage Gold then buys, packs, insures and ships the metal to the depository.
How long does an Advantage Gold rollover take?
Advantage Gold says the account is funded in a few days after you send your statement. The custodian contacts your old plan administrator and moves the money directly.
What is the 60-day rule for an indirect rollover?
If a check is made out to you, you have 60 days to deposit it into the new IRA. A direct transfer between custodians, which is how Advantage Gold runs the rollover, does not use that window.
Where is my gold stored after I buy it?
It goes to an insured depository, either Brink's Global Services USA in Los Angeles or Salt Lake City or Delaware Depository in Wilmington, Delaware.
Who sends my account statements?
Your custodian, STRATA Trust Company or Equity Trust Company, keeps the records and sends the statements, and reports on the account to the IRS each year.
