The Advantage Gold products catalog runs to 39 items in gold, silver, platinum and palladium, and 33 of the 38 we tracked qualify for a gold IRA. The eligible list runs from American Gold Eagles and 1 oz gold bars to Canadian and Australian bullion coins, and it covers all four metals.
Advantage Gold’s own product pages mark nine of those products as IRA eligible, and the other 24 meet the IRS fineness rule for their metal. Because platinum and palladium sit on the shelf beside gold and silver, you can hold more than one metal inside a single account. To see how the buying step fits into the full process, read what to expect when you call Advantage Gold.

Product names come from the Advantage Gold catalog as of September 29, 2026. Some of the IRA-eligible product pages also name a First Time Gold Investor Advantage program, which is worth raising with the account executive if this is your first purchase.
The IRS fineness rules
A gold IRA can hold bullion only when it meets a purity floor for its metal, and Advantage Gold states the same standards on its FAQ page.
| Metal | Minimum fineness |
|---|---|
| Gold | 99.5% |
| Silver | 99.9% |
| Platinum | 99.95% |
| Palladium | 99.95% |
The IRS explains the underlying rule on its IRA FAQ page, and the statute is section 408(m) of the U.S. Code. The statute also carves out gold, silver and platinum coins struck by the U.S. Mint, which is why the American Gold Eagle qualifies even though it is 22 karat, and why every Gold Eagle on the list above is eligible.
Products for direct purchase
Advantage Gold sells five pieces in its catalog for outright ownership rather than for an IRA, through its direct-purchase shop with insured delivery to your door or to a depository. Each one misses the IRA rules for the reason given beside it.
- 1 oz South Africa Gold Krugerrand, 22 karat, .9167 fineness, below the .995 gold floor.
- 1 oz Silver Bullet, novelty-shaped .999 piece, not a government-minted coin or standard bar, treated as not eligible.
- 1 oz Trump Silver Coin, proof-finish .999 medallion made for collectors.
- $1 FV 90% Silver 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars, 90% silver circulated-era coin, below .999.
- $1 FV 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes (10 coins), 90% silver circulated-era coin, below .999.
These suit a buyer who wants some metal at home as well as in the retirement account. Direct purchases carry shipping and insurance charges on top of the metal price, while metal bought inside an IRA ships straight to the depository.
How to pick from the eligible list
The first choice is how many metals you want in the account. A gold-only account is the simplest to run, while adding silver, platinum or palladium spreads the balance across more than one metal market. The next choice is between bars and coins. A 1 oz bar puts the most gold into one piece while fractional coins such as the 1/10 oz Maple Leaf make it easier to sell part of a holding later.
Every eligible product is priced per order with Advantage Gold’s markup inside the quote, paid once at purchase, and the page on how Advantage Gold makes money explains where it sits. When you come to sell, the company offers a buyback service on request, and the buyback page covers how that works.
Where eligible metal is stored
Metal bought for your IRA goes to one of two depositories, Brink's Global Services USA (Los Angeles or Salt Lake City) or Delaware Depository (Wilmington, DE), and the custodian, STRATA Trust Company or Equity Trust Company, keeps the account. Storage costs $100 a year for commingled holding or $175 a year for segregated holding, and the custodian and depository page explains the choice.
After the rollover funds the account, the account executive goes through the eligible coins and bars with you. Advantage Gold then buys, packs, insures and ships the order to the depository you picked. The metal goes straight from Advantage Gold to the vault without passing through your hands, which is how the purchase stays inside the IRA rules. From then on, the custodian’s statements show what the account holds.
Who it fits, and who should look elsewhere
The catalog fits a buyer who wants a rollover into recognized government-minted coins and standard bars, with the option of adding silver, platinum or palladium in the same account. The $5,000 minimum puts the account out of reach below that balance. To weigh other catalogs, compare matched companies.

Common questions
What products does Advantage Gold sell?
Advantage Gold lists 39 products across gold, silver, platinum and palladium. They include American Eagle and Canadian Maple Leaf coins, Canadian and Australian wildlife issues, gold and palladium bars, and a few silver collectibles.
Which Advantage Gold products are IRA-eligible?
Of the 38 products we tracked, 33 are IRA-eligible, across all four metals. The tables on this page list each eligible product by metal and mark the five that are sold for direct purchase instead.
What purity does gold need to be in an IRA?
Gold must be at least 99.5% pure, silver 99.9%, and platinum and palladium 99.95%, under IRC 408(m)(3). American Gold Eagle coins are eligible by statutory exception.
Can I buy Advantage Gold metals outside an IRA?
Yes. Advantage Gold has a shop for direct purchases with insured delivery to your door or to a depository. Products that are not IRA-eligible are sold this way.
Is a Krugerrand IRA-eligible?
No. The 1 oz South Africa Gold Krugerrand is 22 karat, .9167 fine, which is below the .995 gold floor, so it is a direct-purchase product. The silver Krugerrand at .999 is eligible.
